Freelance Video Editor

Carriles Travel Insights designs bespoke luxury travel: African safaris, honeymoons and long-haul itineraries. We shoot on location —Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania, Japan— and come back with raw footage, unscripted, filmed between meetings and transfers.

We are looking for someone to turn that into pieces that look good and land fast. We handle the editorial line ourselves: what we need is a good editor.

Your work starts when the footage folder lands and ends when the piece is ready to publish. No intermediate steps, no approval chains.

• Edit 12 to 16 pieces a month: reels and vertical format, mainly.
• Subtitle in Spanish and English, following the brand typography.
• Colour and sound correction. Footage comes from different cameras and from phones: it has to be unified.
• Repurpose: one long recording yields three or four different pieces, not the same one cut three ways.
• Adapt formats (9:16, 1:1, 16:9) without cropping out what matters.
• Deliver in batches, with a single weekly review round.
• Keep the footage library tidy. What cannot be found does not exist.

Experience

• Two years or more editing video for social, freelance or in-house.
• A portfolio of published work we can watch. It counts for more than the CV.
• You do not need a travel background.

Tools

• Premiere, DaVinci, Final Cut or CapCut. We do not mind which; we care about the result.
• Auto-subtitling with manual correction. A badly cut subtitle shows.
• Comfortable with heavy files and cloud delivery.

Languages

• Native or bilingual Spanish.
• Enough English to subtitle and proofread. You will not negotiate in English, but you will write it.

How you work

• An ear for rhythm. A thirty-second piece has no room for filler.
• Reliable on deadlines above everything else. It is the first thing we look at.
• Judgement to discard footage. If something does not work, say so before editing it.
• Autonomy: we work across time zones and sometimes without signal.

Bonus

• Motion graphics and simple titling.
• An eye for travel imagery: light, landscape, wildlife, architecture.
• Experience with educational content: recorded classes, pieces to camera.

• Ongoing collaboration, invoiced as a freelancer. Between €600 and €900 a month depending on volume and finish.
• Paid trial assignment: four pieces before either side commits to anything recurring.
• Good footage, and ours. We shoot on safari, in lodges and in places almost nobody reaches. You will not be editing stock.
• No fixed hours, no filler meetings. You work to deliverables, with one fixed weekly review.
• Written context with every batch: the hook, what is on screen, where it is going. No guesswork.
• Room to grow. If it works, volume goes up and new formats come in.
