Ecuador

Ecuador

Four worlds in one small country: Galápagos, Andes, Amazon and Pacific Coast

Ecuador is the country of concentrated contrasts. In just a few hours you can go from snow-capped volcanoes to Amazon rainforest, from indigenous markets to tropical beaches, from colonial cities to the most extraordinary islands on the planet.
Ecuador is a country the size of the United Kingdom that contains four completely different worlds. The Galápagos Islands, where Darwin understood evolution and where wildlife still doesn't fear humans. The Ecuadorian Andes, with active volcanoes, indigenous markets and colonial haciendas. The Amazon, one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. And the Pacific coast, with beaches, humpback whales and Afro-Ecuadorian culture. But what makes Ecuador special is not just its diversity, but its accessibility. Distances are short, internal flights cheap and tourist infrastructure excellent. You can have breakfast in Quito at 2,800 meters, lunch in the Amazon rainforest and dinner on the coast, all in the same day. And then there are the Galápagos. The archipelago that changed our understanding of the world. Volcanic islands where giant tortoises, marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies and sea lions live without fear of humans. A living laboratory of evolution that must be seen at least once in a lifetime.
