Seychelles

Granite rocks, dream beaches and the bluest Indian Ocean: paradise exists and has 115 islands

Seychelles is the archetype of tropical paradise. An archipelago of 115 islands where prehistoric granite rocks guard white sand beaches, where giant tortoises roam free and where nature has created landscapes that seem from another planet.
Seychelles is different from any other beach destination. Its 750-million-year-old granite rocks—the planet's oldest—create a unique landscape: beaches dotted with enormous rounded blocks, eroded by time into natural sculptures. It's a landscape that exists nowhere else in the world. Anse Source d'Argent on La Digue is probably the most photographed beach on the planet, and rightly so: pink granite rocks, shallow turquoise waters, palm trees leaning over the sand. But Seychelles has dozens of equally spectacular beaches: Anse Lazio in Praslin, Beau Vallon in Mahé, Anse Intendance... Beyond beaches, Seychelles is a biodiversity sanctuary. The Vallée de Mai in Praslin houses the coco de mer, the palm with the world's largest seed and suggestive shapes. Aldabra giant tortoises live here, some over 100 years old. And underwater, coral reefs teem with life.
