Mongolia

The last nomadic frontier: infinite steppes, wild horses, gers under the stars and the legacy of Genghis Khan

Mongolia is one of the last places on the planet where nomads still live as they did centuries ago: in gers (yurts) that move with the seasons, raising horses, yaks and goats on steppes that stretch to the horizon. It is adventure in its purest state.
Mongolia is the least densely populated country in the world: 3 million people in a territory five times Spain. Most of the population lives in Ulaanbaatar, leaving the rest of the country practically empty. It is one of the last wild places on Earth. Nomadic life remains alive here. Families migrate with their herds according to the seasons, live in gers (yurts) they assemble and disassemble in hours, and maintain traditions dating back to Genghis Khan. Being invited into a ger, sharing tea with milk and airag (fermented mare's milk) is one of the most authentic experiences on the planet. But Mongolia is also extreme nature: the Gobi Desert with its fossilized dinosaurs, the crystalline lakes of the north, the Altai mountains where they hunt with eagles, the steppes where the last wild horses gallop. A country for those seeking the genuine.

The legacy of Genghis Khan

History's greatest conqueror was born on these steppes. Karakorum was capital of the largest empire ever known. Mongolia still venerates its most famous son.

Mongolia has ger camps of different levels: from basic to premium with private bathroom. The most authentic experience is sleeping with nomadic families.
